....SO, I think im gonna miss CALIFORNIA

im a halloween FREAK!
i think it might have something to do with the American in me, ever since I can remember I have insisted on celebrating Halloween.  My perception of this has a lot to do with a childhood favourite movie - Hocus Pocus, my sister and I were slightly obsessed with the idea that witches were real, salt was a legit form of protection, "Zachary Binx" was hot and magic was possible.

Whats better than combining Halloween and a house party - it worked 7 years ago in the Spring in South Africa (my house), and it worked in the Fall in San Francisco on Friday night! A mere 10min drive from the infamous Castro district, a house on the market was transformed into a hauntingly wicked party for over 50 people!

The party started just before 10pm. After a mad rush decorating the house with Sean and Cedar, we were quickly surrounded by vampires, witches, skeletons, eight balls, parrots, cowboys, police officers and more.  Strobe light, fog machines and a punch resembling vomit we PARTIED!!! The real cops eventually shut us down, but it could not have been a more awesome party!

new forms of procrastination...

Hello my dear friendly foe with regards to exam stress - MY BLOG!
between the coffee buzz, insomnia, and lack of social life i have managed to earn local status at Starbucks, $100 and a renewed love for facebook, whatsapp, internet surfing and day dreaming.
It is now 10:00pm pacific time. 1xmocha light frappuccino, and 1xcoffee frappuccino with an extra shot of espresso later.... (and 4 chapters of studies down!) i get a call from my host mom - desperate need for me to drive the 36.6miles to SFO in the witching hours of the night (well almost witching hours... 11:45) to collect my saving grace - the grandma aka less cooking, working and cleaning for me. This feat ( i say feat because i am relying solely on my map app to get me there) is rewarding itself by being $100! I'm awake (understatement - im literally buzzing from caffeine overdose) and I could do with a "study break" and oh... say... $100 in my pathetic savings account.

So mom (if you ever actually read these) I am indeed procrastinating - but its for good karma! oh i misspelt that - i meant CASH!

Patience is rewarded.

crapsicles....

Its that time of year when i update my blog, not for anyone else's benefit or to inform random blog stalkers about my life - rather to feed my insatiable need to procrastinate in any form possible. Yup - its exam time.
Having to log my HUGE lever arch file to and from the library and starbucks (mostly starbucks) is no fun. Having to actually open it and contemplate the masses of information inside it isn't much fun either. so...

IM IN MY FINAl THIRD in the STATES!!! FAAAAACK! only 4 months left...
my new lingo would react like this: Are you serious? seriously? Are you fucking kidding me? Oh my god!
this is HELLA crazy!!

Derrick, ME, Greg and Sean.
but my checklist is being dealt with :) i managed to get to a music festival - OutsideLands. From long ass bus rides with quarters in my boot with my friend Kyle, to almost crying with excitement when Ellie Goulding took the stage, just after oh... a little band called Foster The People.
Meeting up with Derrick - which was an incredible feat as there were millions of San Franciscians of all styles and sanities. Hanging out with Mark the drummer of FTP - because Derricks friends girlfriends friend used to date him. MADNESS - both Friday and Saturday - Champagne brunch at Circa in the Marina District, bottomless champagne!! Calling a cab/town car/fuck up, splitting up and then bumping into each other again accidentally at the same time, accusations of videos of girls peeing (Derrick), snorting Vicodin in the port-a-potty (not me mom, or anyone i have mentioned above) to BEER and MUSE!!!!

Sean, Cedar and ME

Roadtripped to Santa Cruz (aka surreal surf town i could just leave my heart in) with my favourite Americans Cedar and her boyfriend Sean.  The sun decided to shy away so i went and bought myself a super cheesey almost onesy tracksuit with "santa cruz" on it and i wore it, in santa cruz - pretty sure i lost all street cred with that. damn...  played my first game of FOOTBALL on the beach - was super fun! did the whole boardwalk/rides thing - was fun to be a kid again! oh wait... it was fun cos im always a kid.
Marion, ME, Nabi and Kat

I went cycling from pier 40 (which is no where near pier 39... thanks american logic) to the Golden Gate Bridge! tried to ride a super steezy beach cruiser... crashed into a tree within 30 seconds. Lucky for some college students who were on their way to watch the Cal Bears (berkeley) play at the AT&T park witnessed this.  Feared for my life a couple of times. It IS very much possible to forget how to ride a bicycle! what makes it worse... there are hills in San Fran. numerous hills. it helps to know before hand that gears on a bike help. and one should use them... my bad!

ME and my homies
Recently, went to Fleet Week - navy seals, marines, Maverick and Goose's get to show off their uniforms, buzz cuts oh and MAD SKILLS! made me miss waking up on a saturday to that window rattling noise of the Virginia airshow going on, what feels like in my bedroom! (and i did feel like breaking out in either Great Balls of Fire, or Baby... You've lost that loving feeling)
